Even ardent Apple Apple fans are the first ones to admit that they have always been very stingy with their entry-level RAM and storage configurations. Unified Memory is 8GB on the 13-inch MacBook Air base model. As you might expect, users wanting 16GB of RAM will need to pay an extra $200. A Dell Vostro 16 Laptop retails at $729, and comes with 16GB RAM.
In an interview, Apple executives Kate Bergeron & Evan Buyze recently discussed the RAM options available from Apple. You can also find out more about ItHome. Bergeron, Apple’s Vice President of Hardware Engineering. Buyze is part of Apple’s Marketing team.
Buyze addressed the issue and said 8GB is sufficient for many computing tasks. Buyze says that 8GB of memory is sufficient for browsing the internet, light streaming, or photo editing. Although this is true, it still frustrates me that Apple only offers RAM for the most basic of use cases. It’s especially frustrating because Apple positions its machines as being for creative professionals.

Apple claims that 8GB RAM is the same as 16GB
Apple has made it clear that the 8GB RAM they have implemented is actually more powerful than what the specifications would suggest. Apple claims that the unified memory system optimizes performance to the point that it is actually comparable with PC systems that have more RAM.
