A trade was facilitated on Thursday by Fountain, an NFT broker that specializes in high-value NFTs. One of the nine CryptoPunks aliens were sold for 4,000 Ether or around $12,5 million.
CryptoPunks, created by development studios, is a collection consisting of over 10,000 unique pixelated profiles. Larva Labs. Each image has a NFT (non-fungible token).
Cryptography is used to prove ownership of NFTs.
CryptoPunk #635The last time a was sold at Christie’s as part of an auction collection consisting of nine CryptoPunks (for just over $17 million or 4,250 Ether) in May 2021.

These transactions are nothing compared to the sale record of CryptoPunk #5822This occurred on February 20, 2022. The Punk sold for a staggering amount Ether 8,000 Nearly $24 Million at that time.
CryptoPunk 635 was sold on Thursday, the most recent in a long line of sales of alien Punks. This follows CryptoPunk 3100 which had been sold earlier this year. The sale of CryptoPunk 635 ended a drought lasting 751 days, during which there were no sales of alien Punks since CryptoPunk 5822 in 2021.
The CryptoPunks Collection has seen a dramatic decline since 2021, despite its high profile sales.
Minimum asking price or floor price for a CryptoPunk peaked at 113.9 Ether (about $408,000) on October 8, 2020, and has now dropped to 36.9 Ether today, which is roughly $117,000
