As per the Russian internet authority Roscomnadzor, YouTube still hasn’t removed 60,500 videos from its platforms. Should YouTube fail to do so, they risk facing heavy fines. Russia has seen numerous videos on YouTube platforms criticising Russian State authorities since the conflict between Russia and Ukraine began.
Russian officials sternly advise the platform’s owner to take down this video within a day. There is official footage of people spreading false information and violating laws against public disturbances. According to Roscomnadzor, a rule-breaking corporation will be fined over 20% of its total revenue. This fine is really heavy.

Russia’s internal ban history
The Russian government published their controlled internet blacklist strategy in 2012. This is a blacklist used to prevent URLs, domain names, and up-address systems from being used publicly on internal systems. Russian laws purport to prohibit child pornography, the detailing of suicide techniques, drug misuse, the propagation of nationalist hatred, and the dissemination of extremism.
The Russian government appears to be taking fake news and outright disdain for the country very seriously in 2019.
— -Due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Facebook and Twitter—two of the most well-known social media platforms—have been blocked in Russia as of 2022
Certain experts believe that Russia’s restriction on social media and the freezing of Western bank funds indicate that Russia is attempting to circumvent US sanctions. Russia is trying to outlaw or severely punish American-backed businesses and enterprises in Russia, while the USA has banned all Russian bank accounts in the USA.
— — — -Russia is attempting to counter the USA on all fronts. Russia is even building intelligent communications satellites for nuclear weapons. This is a really worrying trend.
Countermeasures by the United States and Russia occasionally affect public life, stifle free speech, and undermine the global community’s open system of cultural norms. Internal bans occasionally encourage anti-pluralism and multicultural ideals; the feminism movement is also somewhat impacted by these bans
