TODAY IS A BIG MILESTONE, WITH MORE THAN $100 MILLION RAISED SINCE THE START OF THE EVENT BACK IN 2013, KCRA THREE’S DENEEKA HILL JOINS US LIVE FROM THE BIG DAY OF GIVING HEADQUARTERS IN DENEEKA. LOOKS LIKE EVERYBODY AROUND YOU IS PRETTY BUSY. YEAH, PEOPLE ARE WORKING AWAY HERE AT THE HEADQUARTERS RIGHT NOW. AND YOU GUYS JUST MENTIONED THEY REACHED THAT $100 MILLION MARK. WE WERE IN HERE IN THE ROOM WHEN THAT HAPPENED. THAT WAS ABOUT 45 MINUTES AGO. AND I’M GOING TO SHOW YOU EXACTLY WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE HERE IN THE ROOM RIGHT NOW. YOU CAN SEE ALL THE BALLOONS, ALL THE CONFETTI. ALL OF THESE PEOPLE IN HERE ARE WORKING HARD COLLECTING THOSE DONATIONS, MAKING SURE THEY’RE GETTING COUNTED, MAKING SURE THEY’RE BEING TALLIED. NOW, AS YOU GUYS MENTIONED, THIS IS A BIG DAY OF GIVING. AND THAT’S BECAUSE OVER ONE, OVER 831 NONPROFITS ARE PARTICIPATING IN THIS. THAT MEANS DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS FROM EL DORADO COUNTY, YOLO COUNTY, PLACER COUNTY AND SACRAMENTO COUNTY WILL BENEFIT FROM TODAY’S DONATION. AND THERE ARE A LOT OF WAYS THAT YOU CAN DONATE AND THEY’VE ALSO MADE IT EASIER FOR PEOPLE TO DONATE. THEY’VE LOWERED THAT DONATION TO $10. SO THAT MEANS IF YOU SEE AN ORGANIZATION THAT YOU WANT TO HELP, YOU CAN DO THAT. NOW I’M GOING TO TALK TO SOME OF THE WORKERS IN HERE TODAY COLLECTING THESE DONATIONS AND MAKING THINGS WORK. IT’S IT’S AN AMAZING OPPORTUNITY FOR NON PROFITS ACROSS THE REGION, ACROSS NORTHERN CALIFORNIA TO GET THOSE DONATIONS THAT ALLOW THEM TO WORK. IT’S SOME OF THE NONPROFITS THAT YOU THINK ABOUT. SOME ARE BIGGER, SOME ARE SMALLER. AND THIS DAY COULD MAKE OR BREAK THAT NONPROFIT. SO YOU STILL GOT PLENTY OF TIME TO DONATE.
