Jack abandons the ship.
Jack Dorsey, the co-founder and former CEO of Twitter, has resigned from the board of directors of Bluesky, the decentralized social network. Dorsey himself confirmed this news to a Twitter user.
Although the official Bluesky website still mentions him as a member, Dorsey confirmed his departure with a simple “no” when the user asked him if he was still part of the Bluesky board. The social network issued a statement thanking Dorsey for his contribution to the project and announcing the search for a new member for its board of directors, although no further details were provided.
Bluesky, which was born in 2019 as an internal project led by Dorsey at Twitter, has become an independent company under the leadership of Jay Graber as CEO. The company has invested in the development of an open protocol for decentralized social networks and its own social platform.

Initially available by invitation only, Bluesky opened to the public in February, gaining one million users in just one day and reaching a total of 4 million. Three months later, the social network already has over 5.5 million registered users.
Although Bluesky has not yet updated the information on its website to reflect Dorsey’s departure from its board of directors, the project continues to expand as an alternative to centralized social networks, such as Twitter or Instagram.
