A May 1 meeting of Panola County nonprofits saw an impressive turnout with 26 attendees. At the gathering, discussions centered around addressing the needs of local nonprofits and fostering their growth and development.
Keri-Perot Vance, representing the Panola County Chamber of Commerce, expressed enthusiasm about the prospect of connecting with each other and being able to offer a variety of non-profit management engagement opportunities here in Panola County. Pam Anderson, nonprofit mentor, shared some details on the courses that are offered in regards to grant writing and nonprofit building. These courses, ranging from half-day sessions to two-week programs, aim to equip nonprofits with essential skills and strategies for success.
Among the courses highlighted were non profit management fundamentals, spanning one to seven weeks, and advanced five-week courses tailored for organizations seeking accelerated growth. Additionally, plans were also discussed to potentially host these courses at Panola College, further enhancing accessibility for local nonprofits.
Attendees voiced optimism about the future of nonprofits in Panola County, with discussions touching on assets, barriers and opportunities facing these organizations. Looking ahead, there is a collective desire to explore partnerships and initiatives aimed at supporting and empowering the nonprofit sector in the East Texas region.
