Home News Meta and Solarpack Collaborate on Solar Projects to Power Data Center in…
Meta, in a strategic partnership with Solarpack, is set to construct two solar projects with a combined capacity of 210 MW (280 MWdc) in Indiana. This initiative bolsters Meta’s footprint in the region, aligning with its recent announcement of an $800 million data center in Indiana.
Solarpack, a renowned renewable energy company based in Spain, expresses enthusiasm for advancing its projects in Indiana alongside Meta. The collaboration underscores Meta’s commitment to sustainability, as evidenced by the signing of two long-term Environmental Attribute Purchase Agreements (EAPAs) with Solarpack.
These agreements facilitate the procurement of renewable energy to support Meta’s expanding operations in Indiana. Meta will directly purchase the output from Solarpack’s solar projects, contributing to the state’s goal of generating 10% of its energy from renewables and driving progress toward a carbon-free future while stimulating community benefits and job creation.
Meta’s dedication to sustainability extends globally, with its operations supported by 100% renewable energy since 2020 and a commitment to achieving net zero emissions across its value chain by 2030.
Leo Moreno, CEO of Solarpack, expresses excitement over the partnership, emphasizing its role in supporting Meta’s decarbonization objectives and marking a significant milestone for Solarpack in the United States. He highlights the importance of providing decarbonization solutions on a global scale while facilitating local carbon-free generation near data center loads.
