Rappahannock Electric Cooperative awarded two checks to two 501(c)3 organizations on May 6 via its Power of Change program.
Thousands of REC members give voluntarily to The Power of Change each month. Gifts can be a set monthly or one-time donation or members can round up their bill to the next whole dollar. These funds are granted to 501(c)3 organizations around the service territory twice a year.
Powell Wellness Center Boxing for Hope-Rock Steady Boxing Program was presented with a check for $3,500. This organization is being recognized for its program that assists those with Parkinson’s Disease. They serve the counties of Culpeper, Madison and Orange. REC representatives, Casey Hollins and Tracy Woods, presented the check.
Operation First Response Inc. was presented with a check for $5,000. These funds will go toward their Family Assistance Program, which provides emergency financial aid to active-duty service members, disabled veterans, Gold Star Families and first responders. Hollins and Woods presented the check.
