Elon Musk, who owns microblogging platform X, has said that
parent company is “super greedy” as it is taking credit for advertisers who run campaigns on its platform. He said that on a post by an
X
user who claimed that all ad conversions are attributed to
Meta
despite them being run on X.
“Several of our advertisers noticed that while running campaigns on both X and Meta, nearly all conversions are attributed to Meta, with X reporting almost no conversions.
Interestingly, when X Ads are turned off, total conversions significantly drop, including those reported on Meta. No research is needed to understand what’s going on here… Let me know if you experienced similar discrepancies in conversion attribution,” a post read.
Tesla and SpaceX CEO responded by saying that there may be a major class action lawsuit against Mark Zuckerberg-run Meta.
“Yeah, we are a terrible at claiming credit and Meta is super greedy at claiming credit. There is a major class action lawsuit against Meta for their false claims,” Musk said.
Another Musk follower posted that eventually, “Meta will need to revise their attribution model, revealing the truth to advertisers who are already noticing a decline in results.”
“For X, refining the attribution model to align more closely with reality is relatively straightforward. This will show even better outcomes for advertisers,” the X user suggested.
Musk takes aim at Zuckerberg’s company
In a separate post, he took a potshot at Meta and its
social media
platforms.
“‘Other platforms, such as Meta, took down the content quickly when asked.’ – eSafety Commissioner Lawyer”, a post said, showing an image of Threads, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger and WhatsApp – all owned by Meta.
The post suggested that these platforms controlled people’s voices, while X, on the other hand, gave “Freedom of speech.”
Musk reposted it by saying, “Only X resisted censoring your voice.”
