TIRUVANNAMALAI: An assistant public relations officer (APRO) at the
Tiruvannamalai district collectorate
died on Sunday morning after he had suffered a ‘
heat stroke
‘ a few days before.
The deceased has been identified as S Asaithambi, 48.
Police said Asaithambi swooned at his office in the district collectorate around noon on May 7. His colleagues came to his rescue and rushed him to Tiruvannamalai Government Medical College Hospital where he was admitted to an exclusive ward to treat patients suffering from heat stroke.
A doctor on duty in the medical college hospital, who attended him, said Asaithambi fainted as his blood pressure shot up after he suffered a heat stroke due to intense summer heat.
The APRO was later referred to a private hospital in
Vellore
for advanced treatment. He was again referred to a private hospital in Bengaluru where he died at 5am on Sunday despite medical attention.
He is survived by his wife and two sons.
