The following is a news release from the California Highway Patrol Indio Area office:
PALM DESERT, CA — On Friday, May 17, 2024, officers from the California Highway Patrol Indio Area office, along with community members, will come together in an informal space to discuss community issues, have coffee, and build relationships. The event will begin at 8:00 a.m., at Starbucks Coffee shop located at 40101 Monterey Avenue, Palm Desert, CA 92270. The public and all community members are invited to attend.
Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the Department’s work in Riverside County neighborhoods. The majority of contact law enforcement has with the public often happens during emergencies or emotional situations. Those situations are not always the most effective times for relationship building within the community, and some community members may feel officers are unapproachable on the street. Coffee with a Cop breaks down barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction.
