‘Give Big Kern’ comes to an end after hitting their record for 2024. (KBAK/KBFX)
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/FOX58) — Each year, Give Big Kern and local nonprofits set to break the previous year’s donation amount, and officials can say they went beyond that and more; Donations surpassed $1 million, for the first time.
A total of $1,529,018 was raised through 22,067 pledged hours for 131 local nonprofits.
Give Big Kern was held on May 7, 2024, the official Giving Day for Kern County, Bakersfield, and Taft. Donations came in as early as April 7, 2024.

Officials said funds raised during Give Big Kern will go directly into the operational budgets of participating nonprofits.
The participating nonprofit organizations range from arts and culture to social services and environmental conservation.
Next year’s Give Big Kern is set for May 6, 2025.
