The Community Foundation of Grundy County Executive Director Julie Buck was Friday’s guest on People R Talking and she shared results from the Young Philanthropists Awards Night held this past Monday.
This year’s annual event was held at the Gardner American Legion and brought together Young Philanthropist students from area High Schools and representative of the local non-profits they selected to receive funds donated by the Community Foundation. Buck said a total of $20K was distributed to a variety of different organizations.

She said Community Foundation Program Director Devan Gagliardo visits students at each school and facilitates the process that allows them to decide which charities they want to receive all or a portion of their $5K allotment.

Buck added that the Community Foundation’s recent purchase of the old Mazon State Bank building will soon serve Grundy area’s youth as a mental health facility that will likely see a ribbon cutting in July and be open by 2025.
