Abilene Home Away From Home received a grant for program support. (Community Foundation of Abilene)
ABILENE, Texas — The Community Foundation of Abilene awarded more than $543,000 in grants to three dozen local nonprofits.
The grants were given as a part of the foundation’s 2024 spring grant cycle.
36 nonprofits were awarded grants from the spring cycle:
89.5 KACU Radio – West Texas oral history project
Abilene Back the Badge Foundation – Officer financial assistance program support
Abilene Disc Golf Association – Will Hair Park course improvements
Abilene Fire Department – Functional firefighter health
Abilene Home Away From Home – Program support
Abilene Hope Haven, Inc. – Operational needs
Abilene Independent School District – Increasing access to healthy homes for vulnerable students
Abilene Performing Arts Company – Production camp assistance
Abilene Preservation League – Program support for the Abilene Railroad Festival
Abilene Youth Sports Authority – Leadership development camp and coaching clinic
Abilene Zoological Society – Caribbean Cove
BCFS Abilene Transition Center – Operational needs
Ben Richey Boys Ranch – Mabee House improvements
Cancer Services Network – Taylor County cancer patient assistance program support
Children’s Performing Arts Series – Program support for 2024 series
Chorus Abilene, Inc. – Staffing support
City Light Community Ministries – 2024 community meal funds
Fellowship of Christian Athletes – FCA youth sports program support
Frontier Texas! – Expansion and renovation capital campaign
Global Samaritan Resources, Inc. – Operational funds for new nonprofit distribution center
Harmony Family Services – Emergency shelter bed
McMurry University – Pre-Nursing student support initiatives
Ministry of Counseling & Enrichment – Samaritan Fund and Kids’ Place Scholarship Fund
National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature – 2024 exhibition support
Pathways Youth & Family Services, Inc. – Mosaic Behavioral Health Services for foster youth
Pink Cap Warriors on The Move – Operational needs
Salvation Army – Congregate feeding and shelter
St. Mark’s Baby Room – Baby room equipment and supplies
Strength for Life Foundation – Operational needs
The Abilene Palm House – Palm House improvements
The Mentoring Alliance – Mentoring Alliance summer camps
United Rescue Alliance – CERT program support
West Texas Homeless Network – Prevention and diversion program
West Texas Veteran Support Services – Restoring Texas
YMCA of Abilene – Water safety initiative
Youth Voice Inc – Weekend meal program for youth
This is the first time Abilene Disc Golf Association and KACU received a grant from the foundation.
According to the website, the Community Foundation of Abilene has been serving the community for 39 years.
More than $145 million has been given in grants since its creation. More than 160 nonprofits have been supported through the Community Foundation of Abilene.
