PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – This week’s Golden Apple Award Winner shines bright in all she does.
Marleigh Elmore said, “I feel amazing. I am very surprised, and I feel very honored and just loved by my students and my community.”
Just starting out as a second-grade teacher at North Bay Haven Elementary, Ms. Elmore said she is loving every minute of it.
She said, “It’s been an amazing first year, and I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
Inspired by the teachers and faculty she is now working with, Ms. Elmore said it is all about the energy and passion you bring into the classroom.
“I felt like my calling was to do a career where I was passionate, and I felt fulfilled by making a difference,” Ms. Elmore said. “I think that’s what teaching is. It doesn’t feel like a job. I feel like it is really just something where I can make a difference and have fun everyday with the kids.”
Ms. Elmore said her favorite part about teaching is the unexpected moments from her class. “Second-grade is just a wonderful age because they can tell you how they feel, and you a just have fun together.”
Her second graders agree and said they show their appreciation every day.
Congratulations Ms. Elmore!
