The Meta has uncovered a cluster of social media profiles originating from China, engaging in anti-India activity. China originated social media profiles, targeting the global Sikh community across various countries. Clusters of fake accounts linked to a previous CIB network from China targeting India, Tibet in early 2023. Fake profiles targeting Sikh community mainly in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, UK, Nigeria. 37 Facebook, 13 pages, 5 groups, and 9 Instagram accounts were created and were violating Meta’s policies. Fictitious activist movement “Operation K” advocating pro-Sikh protests, notably in New Zealand and Australia. Network tried to influence news, current events by potentially using manipulated images generated by AI.
