The Solana Beach Schools Foundation (SBSF) held its second annual Major Donor Reception at The Clubhouse at Pacific Highlands on May 15. The event honored families that contributed at the Major Donor level as part of the SBSF’s Major Donors Program and its SBSF Business Partners.
This year’s Business Partners include Platinum level donors American Assets Trust, Coughlan & Vinel LLP, and Mission Pest Control and Silver level donor, The Rockademy.
The SBSF raises funds to help support weekly Discovery Lab classes for all students in the subjects of STREAM, art, technology and supplemental physical education.
According to SBSF Executive Director Valerie Charat in a news release, the district is proud to offer these hands-on, inquiry-based learning opportunities for all students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Families often cite the schools as a reason for choosing to live within the district’s boundaries, she said.

“As major donors to the Solana Beach Schools Foundation, we are proud to be part of a community of families dedicated to providing extraordinary learning opportunities for all our children. We especially like that our financial contribution directly funds instructor salaries and supplies,” said Solana Pacific parent Krista Kshatriya in a news release. “We are amazed at how the Discovery Labs nurture our children’s intellectual development to become curious, creative, hard-working, physically, and emotionally fit people, preparing them to excel in college and beyond.”
Donations to the Solana Beach Schools Foundation are tax-deductible, more information is available at solanabeachkids.org.
