SULPHUR — On Tuesday, June 4, Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman, head of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the voice in President Biden’s Cabinet for America’s more than 33 million small businesses, will travel to Oklahoma to meet with survivors of recent tornadoes and visit a rural small business as part of the Investing in Rural America tour.
In the morning, Administrator Guzman will travel to Sulphur where she will participate in a walking tour of West Muskogee Avenue, a prominent street in the heart of Sulphur which was nearly leveled by recent EF-3 tornadoes. During the tour, the Administrator will view severely damaged areas and meet with small business owners whose businesses were destroyed by the natural disaster.
Administrator Guzman will then travel to Sulphur City Hall for a private roundtable meeting with tornado survivors. Following the roundtable, Administrator Guzman will tour a nearby SBA Business Recovery Center before participating in a press conference alongside Chickasaw Nation Governor Bill Anoatubby.
In the afternoon, Administrator Guzman will travel to Shawnee to visit a veteran-owned, rural small business as part of the SBA’s Investing in Rural America tour. The business, which specializes in professional tank containment services, received SBA support prior to and during the COVID-19 pandemic.
