Kathy Critch of Ryan Critch Real Estate has been in the industry since 2002. But in 2014, she was using Zillow and struggling with the technology. From that point on, her son Ryan handled the marketing and she focused on the contracts.
“Technology plays a major role,” said Ryan, a real estate broker. “Earlier, buyers relied heavily on their agents to find properties. Now, buyers are using multiple websites, looking multiple times per day, and as an entrepreneur, I learned you have to be comfortable being uncomfortable.” The world of real estate involves researchers, analyzing market trends, pricing strategies, and investment opportunities. For Ryan, it’s more than selling homes, it’s curating lifestyles.
“Looking back, we put family over money,” he said. “When I was in my 20s, someone told me ‘You can always make more money, but you can’t get the time back with your kids’ and that’s why I wanted to go into a profession where I can control my own hours and have flexibility to spend time with Blair (his wife), and Jeremiah and Noah as they were growing up. The reason why I did this is I wanted to coach my son’s sports. That was very important to me.”
Ryan Critch Real Estate focuses on creating relationships with clients from first-time home buyers to owners of luxury estates. His personal experience involves over 15 years in sales, negotiations, and marketing.
“We mostly focus on Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach,” said Ryan. “The goal of Ryan Critch Real Estate is to create a self-managing company. We work together as a family. My dad is an attorney and is fantastic at writing and reviewing contracts. Blair loves the details and loves interacting with people. I also have both of my sons working with me now.”
All this has led to Ryan writing two books – “See You at the Table” and “Success @ Sunrise” – along with being a winner of the prestigious “Best of Fort Lauderdale Award” in 2022 and 2023. “First-time home buyers should get an agent or broker with experience,” said Ryan. “The most important question to ask is, ‘How are you planning to market my home outside of traditional marketing methods?’”
One of those methods is through social media, which is undergoing a shift. That environment was previously dominated by a photo with text. Now, video clips are currently the choice, especially on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
“Show not just the work stuff, but everything that is interesting,” said Ryan. “My wife is a social media expert and our formula is we do 80 percent of what we know works and 20 percent trying new things like when Reels first came out, or the major shift from Facebook to Instagram. Number one is to be authentic on social media.” Ryan Critch Real Estate is also a New Pelican advertiser.

Ryan Critch Real Estate uses social media to showcase luxury homes with sweeping ocean views, and bathtubs by windows that allow one to soak in the scenery along with the bubbles. A real estate agent is not just a broker, but a guide through the labyrinth of living.
“I’ve come across many beautiful homes in Pompano and Fort Lauderdale,” said Ryan. “I came across this modern-traditional, waterfront, unique architecture, and a fabulous home like nothing I’ve ever seen in Pompano. The other one is 200 yards from the beach with a rooftop terrace where you can see the ocean and resort-style waterfront pool. We have all the bells and whistles here.”
This year, Ryan was approached by American Dream TV to be a representative for Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach. The show has won two Emmy nominations and five Telly Awards. He is an on-screen host showcasing locations and doing interviews. The first episode showcased Pompano Beach in a five-to-seven-minute segment that educates people on what the cities have to offer.
Some of the people he has interviewed are County Commissioner Lamar Fisher and Pompano Beach Mayor Rex Hardin. The Fort Lauderdale show will be filmed in June and is set for an August release. The topics will include Inter Miami and Messi, the new Disney Port out of Fort Lauderdale, and the expansion of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
“The number one challenge is that there are over 60,000 realtors in the tri-county area and everybody knows at least 10,” said Ryan.
“But very few are full-time. My number one goal is to share everything we do above and beyond what a typical real estate agent would do. Everything with my family, the TV show, being authentic, and more wouldn’t have been possible if I never learned you have to be comfortable being uncomfortable.”
