Dear Supporters,
For over 25 years, Casa Mesita Thrift Shop has been a cherished part of our community. What began as a non-profit thrift shop supporting a group home for girls aged 12-18 has grown into a vital resource for local non-profits. Powered by community donations and the dedication of volunteers, our proceeds have consistently supported these worthy causes. Last year alone, we donated over $40,000 to numerous organizations in Los Alamos and Northern NM, including all Los Alamos/White Rock public school PTOs, Family Strengths Network, LA Cares, LA Makers, Self Help, Los Alamos Retired & Senior Organization, and others.
While we greatly appreciate all usable and sellable items in good or excellent condition, the store does not have the storage or manpower to accommodate frequent truckloads of items being dropped off at once. We deeply appreciate your generosity and could not achieve what we do without the support of our generous community and surrounding areas. Our thrift shop operates solely through the hard work of unpaid volunteers who sort through donations, wash and repair items, and prepare the store for sale days.
However, we now find ourselves in urgent need of additional help. Due to a shortage of volunteers and the recent illness of one of our key team members, we are struggling to keep up with the demands of running the shop. This situation could force us to reduce store hours and limit our ability to accept donations. If this trend continues, Casa Mesita faces the very real possibility of closure.
We need your help to prevent this loss. We are seeking dedicated volunteers to assist with sorting donations (clothes, housewares, etc.), maintaining the store, preparing for sale days, and helping during sale days. Your commitment can ensure that Casa Mesita continues to support our community.
If you are willing and able to help, please contact Roberta or Annabelle at 505-263-8890 or 505-690-3406 or feel free to stop in the store to chat.
Thank you for your support and warm wishes,
The Casa Mesita Volunteers
