SOUTHERN TIER, N.Y. (WENY) — The Fund for Women of the Southern Tier announced they are holding a workshop on Monday, July 8th for local non-profits interested in applying for a $150,000 grant designed to empower local girls and women. The FFW Empower Grant awards the money over a three year partnership, in an effort to address the needs of girls and women in Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben and Yates Counties.
“We envision this partnership with one area non-profit to support a specialized program, fund a new program, or enhance an existing program,” said, Jeanne Estep, chair of the FFW Grants Committee and Board
Member in a prepared statement.
According to the FFW, they are looking for programs that address education, health and wellness, self sufficiency or anything that combines those issues. Applications are due September 6th, 2024.
“The Fund for Women created this grant in 2018 to significantly impact the lives of girls and women who have encountered substantial obstacles or barriers to achieving self-sufficiency. The first non-profit recipient of the FFW Empower Grant was Arbor Development. The grant they received, initially, in the fall of 2018, was extended until the end of 2024. We thought it was time to open up the opportunity to other non-profits in the area to see what other needs could be met with these funds,” said Estep in a prepared statement.
The one-hour workshop is set to take place at 1 p.m. at the Three Rivers Development Conference Room located at 10 est Market Street on the second floor. There isn’t much time to register though, anyone interested is being asked to RSVP by July 3rd.
