PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — It’s Christmas in July for two Philadelphia nonprofits. No, there won’t be any tannenbaum or tinsel, but the goal is to encourage the spirit of giving throughout the month with a “love affair” between Broad Street Love and the Sunday Love Project.
It’s a friendly competition in hopes of better serving their communities.
“We are asking our supporters to support one another’s mission through the purchase of goods through Target Registries,” said Kathy Meck with Broad Street Love.
She explains how it all works: First things first, check out their Instagram and Facebook pages for their registry links.
“Broad Street Love — we are encouraging our supporters to purchase beans and other non-perishable goods that are on the target registry for Sunday Love Project, which will go into their free grocery story for residents in Kensington.”
And the Sunday Love Project supporters are asked to purchase underwear for donation through Broad Street Love’s registry to the thousands of guests that walk through their doors each week.
“The ultimate goal is, whoever gets to $5,000 first is the winner,” said Meck.
However, Meck explains, no matter who gets to the goal, it’s a win-win for Philadelphia.
