In this episode of the Grit Daily Startup Show, host John Biggs was joined by CEO Stacey Yudin of NEP Services, a leader in the communications space that is providing nonprofits and other organizations with best-in-class software. Named one to watch by Fast Company, NEP Services has helped clients raise $65 million for their communities and $7 million for the “Help a Hero” crowdfunding campaign. The discussion dove into what NEP Services is doing and facets of the nonprofit sector as a whole.
Nonprofits, much like startups, find themselves scrounging for resources. Not only are pickings slim, but the sector is notorious for its slow adaptation of technology. Yudin observed this fact and formed NEP Services, in part, to fill the game.
Previously speaking on the endeavor, Yudin remarked, “The industrial 4.0 provides a great opportunity to bridge the gap between nonprofits and tech seamlessly. We are providing the easiest and most robust digital onramp for nonprofits to thrive and build strong communities.”
NEP is steering nonprofits, including unions, educational institutions, and emergency services, into a future where technology empowers rather than intimidates. To achieve this goal, Yudin has crafted NEP Services into a powerhouse of digital transformation.
A major part of NEP’s process is Connect Plus+, a cloud-based communications and Association Management Software (AMS) platform that is changing how essential services like education, law enforcement, and fire services communicate, manage communities, and empower their members.
Discussing Connect Plus+, Yudin remarks, “It’s an all-in-one transformational communication product that allows anyone with low tech experience to build a database and start sending communications out.”
The platform allows companies to handle push notifications, text, email, and even chat. By having everything in one place, it creates cohesion among union or nonprofit membership, allowing them to engage the community more effectively.
“You have to remember that these organizations are spread out geographically across entire states, internationally or maybe nationally,” remarks Yudin. “There’s a lot of issues with growing their membership as well as outreach to their current members. And that’s really the product and really the challenge that we’re solving.”
Ultimately, the Connect Plus+ platform has become the cornerstone for organizations looking to modernize their operations while maintaining a strong connection with their community and workforce. Moreover, NEP’s pricing strategy has been crafted to be flexible and accessible, ensuring that organizations of all sizes can leverage the platform without financial strain.
But solving the pricing problem was not an easy task. Yudin and NEP worked hard to create a product “that can be rolled out seamlessly and easily” and one that “is not a huge burden-price wise or infrastructure-wise.” Their efforts have led not only to flexibility but fundraising assistance that helps offset implementation and rollout costs.
Under Yudin’s leadership, NEP has become a trusted partner for numerous unions and nonprofit organizations, boosting their membership and strengthening relationships. As nonprofits continue to navigate the complexities of modern demands and community expectations, NEP’s Connect Plus+ platform is indispensable. It’s transforming how these organizations operate, engage, and succeed in an increasingly digital world and giving them the tools to make success possible.
To date, more than 700 nonprofit organizations have embraced the Connect Plus+ platform, including labor unions IBEW 611, San Diego City Firefighters Local 145 and Yonkers Uniformed Fire Officers Association, as well as such police unions as the National Troopers Coalition, Texas Department of Public Safety Officers Association, and others.
