SKAGIT COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Grant money will be heading to some non-profits in our region as the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust published their first quarter report for 2024.
The trust, which has invested more than $1.4 billion in pacific northwest nonprofits since 1975, released the report on May 16 showing two recipients in Skagit County getting a charitable boost.
Mount Vernon High School was granted $10,000 towards DNA analysis tools and marine science, and Island Health Foundation of Anacortes is set to receive $300,000 for facility renovations to better serve rural patients.
A total of nearly $17 million across 96 different grants are detailed in the report, where Seattle’s Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center was listed as the largest benefactor, getting nearly $800,000 to support cancer, virology and vaccine research.
