Gurgaon: Haryana govt has reconstituted
public relations
and
grievance committees
for every district. As part of the new arrangement,
chief minister
Nayab Singh Saini will head the committee for Gurgaon, replacing former agriculture minister JP Dalal.
The announcement was made through a notification issued by the chief secretary on Saturday. Before Dalal, former CM Manohar Lal Khattar had presided over the Gurgaon committee for eight years since BJP formed the govt in the state.
In Sept 2022, however, Dalal was given charge of the panel.
City residents said despite Gurgaon accounting for the highest revenue in the state, issues such as waterlogging, waste management and homebuyers’ complaints were overlooked at times.
“We have always paid so much tax, but have also struggled to get basic issues such as drains, poor roads and garbage addressed. Now, we can raise our grievances before the CM directly and hope for a speedy resolution,” said Mahavir Yadav, a resident of Sector 9.
Like the CM, different ministers will head the committees in other
districts
. So, agriculture minister Kanwar Pal will preside over grievance committee meetings in Panipat and Panchkula. In Nuh and Charkhi Dadri, industries minister Mool Chand Sharma will chair the meetings.
In Mahendergarh and Sonipat, it will be power minister Ranjit Singh while finance minister Jai Parkash Dalal will see the affairs in Rohtak and Faridabad. In Palwal and Hisar, public health engineering minister Banwari Lal will head the committee while in Kaithal and Fatehabad, it will be health minister Kamal Gupta. In Rewari, it will be minister of state for school education Seema Trikha and minister of state for development and panchayat Mahipal Dhanda in Jind.
The move, officials said, is aimed at streamlining the grievance redressal mechanism and enhancing efforts to reach out to people.
“After the formation of the new council minister, the reconstitution of the new chairperson was pending. The govt has now announced this as well,” an official said.
The move comes a day after Haryana govt launched ‘Happy Cards’ for people from families with an annual income of up to Rs 1 lakh. The move is being seen as an attempt by the state govt to reach out to people after BJP’s jolt in the Lok Sabha polls, where the party’s seat tally came down by 50%, and with the assembly elections just four months ahead.
