FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Do it Best Foundation held its 4th annual Fore for the Cause golf tournament and fundraiser Monday, where they set a fundraising goal of $1 million.
400 golfers from across the county came to participate and played at four different courses to raise money for various local non-profit organizations.
One of those organizations is Blessings in a Backpack, a non-profit that feeds school children who are at risk of going hungry on the weekends. Executive Director, Jama Ross, explained how impactful funds from the Do it Best Foundation can be.
“We thrive on being a giving community there is just so much need and unfortunately with the rise in inflation we are just really seeing all those needs rise even further to the top,” said Ross. “With local non-profits like us, every dollar creates such an impact.”
Other local non-profit organizations that benefit are the United Way of Allen County, and the YWCA.
Since its founding in 2019, the Do it Best Foundation has awarded over $1 million in grants to
nonprofit organizations across the country.
Following the golf tournament, many gathered at Electric Works for a reception and awards program to wrap-up the day.
Do it Best tells WANE 15 they exceeded their $1 million dollar goal raising a total of $1,030,970.
In a press release from Do it Best, they said, “This is the largest amount raised to date at the Fore the Cause event, beating last year’s total by 54%.”
